Cancelling Christmas

Some days, I just want to cancel Christmas. I'm burned out. I'm exhausted. I fall asleep in the shower with a toothbrush in my mouth and shampoo in my hair and I fall asleep at my desk when 3 o'clock blues hit. I do the dishes somewhere between 1-3 am, and instead of getting the sleep I really need, I blog. Something's wrong with my priorities, right?

So I did. I cancelled Christmas. All of my brothers and sisters have kids and families of their own to keep them occupied, so they don't really need me around to start the party. All the food and whatever? I don't need it. I am more than content to take a day to stay in my pajamas, watch stop motion Christmas movies, listen to Christmas music, and eat chocolate like no one's business. Maybe I'll even spend some time drawing a Christmas tree on butcher paper and hang it on the door. I'm not promising anything on that one.

I want to curl under a blanket and not move all day. I want to make homemade cider, or if it's warm, I want to lay outside on the sidewalk and soak up the heat. I want to leave my contacts out all day and watch 3D movies with kettle corn. I want to read dirty books in just my penguin Christmas socks. I want to break out my holiday CDs and belt out Christina Aguilera's "My Kind of Christmas" while I make lunch.

This is my kind of Christmas. That's right, be jealous.

  2. "... watch stop motion Christmas movies, listen to Christmas music ..." so you didn't cancel Christmas just parts of it ;)

I have a love/hate relationship with the season myself but i love it more than I hate it in the end. Good CD.

    Get some sleep!

    1. Okay, okay, I cancelled FAMILY Christmas. It's just a me Christmas this year and I'm super psyched about it. Love this CD and (strangely enough) David Archuletta's Christmas CD plus all the classics.

I got at least 5 hours last night, but somehow that's not enough for my beat up body. Nine more days! :D

  3. I love spending the day with my family myself so I could never cancel. I'm an only child so I'm very close with my family.
However as long as you're happy in what you have planned that's all that matters :)

    1. My family is huge, and we're all fairly close. We love each other a lot, but we don't call each other often or anything. My siblings and I all got together this past summer, and the last time that happened was seven years ago! That's what happens when we all live so far apart :)

    2. My parents live 2 towns over LOL. It's a 10min drive to their house. I have a lot of Aunts & Uncles but I'm an only child so no siblings. Due to that I was always very close to my parents. My Mom is like an older sister to me. That's to bad you all live to far apart. Are you all in different states or just towns/cities that are very far apart?

    3. States/countries. I live in SoCal, I have siblings in Arizona, Nevada, North Carolina, the PNW, and the border of Maine and Canada. I have aunts and uncles in 17 states across the US. I try to see each one of my siblings at least once a year or two, but for all of us to be together is a rare thing and usually requires a wedding.
